Napa Valley Youth Symphony Fall Concert
October 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm$5 – $10
European Crossroads: For nearly 200 years, the border between central Europe and Western Europe was the hub of classical music. Prague and Vienna served as the capitals of Western Music, incorporating the styles of Italy, Germany, Hungary, and Russia into the pan-national style that we now simply call Classical Music. We explore this fertile region with the Egmont Overture of Beethoven, who travelled from Bonn to Vienna to meet his musical idol; Brahms’ Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 and 6 and Vítězslava Kaprálová’s Suita Rustica each bring folksongs to the concert hall in very different ways. The Finale from Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony presents this Brahms protogé at his most ebullient.
