The Hess Collection Elevates Wine Tasting

There is more to  Hess than meets the eye. Most wine drinkers are likely familiar with the  ultra popular label, whose Chardonnay has  long  held  prime shelf space  at wine retailers across the United States. But Hess has a little secret. The winery, located high atop Napa’s Mt. Veeder AVA, in the shadow of the majestic Mayacamas mountains, also crafts small quantity, single vineyard varietals not easily found, and treasured by those-in-the-know. The best way to sample and purchase these coveted premium wines? Via a visit to their historic property where a number of exceptional wine tasting experiences showcase the Hess bounty.

The Hess venue, setting, and ambiance alone make a visit worthwhile. A world-class assemblage of art pieces deepens the layer of interest. Add a respected chef who pushes culinary boundaries with creative cuisine that show- cases Hess’ 15 different varietals, and a bit of wine country magic is achieved.

“Wine tasting within the Napa Valley has  changed  over  the past several years,” said Cesar Ramirez, Hess Collection’s guest relations specialist, whose passion for creative engagement with Hess fans has led to a variety of unique wine tasting experiences. “At Hess, our amazing consumer experiences provide an exceptional platform for enjoying some of our most highly prized wines.”

Take for instance the ‘Hess Excursions:’ a choice of three different tastings, each preceded by an ATV vineyard ride through the winery’s historic Mont La Salle vineyard, and each followed by a wine tasting, wine and food pairing, or wine and cheese pairing prepared by Executive Chef Chad Hendrickson, or for the purists, simply a current release tasting of Mount Veeder wines.

“It’s amazing what we have curated for our guests,” said Ramirez. “Only here will Napa Valley visitors find such diversity of experiences.Whether enjoying beautifully crafted wine and food pairings, strolling the awe-inspiring art collection, or taking-in the stunning mountain vineyard views aboard our high performance ATV– we have an experience for everyone.”

Chef Hendrickson finds inspiration in the components of both the Hess Napa Valley wines and the Mount Veeder estate vineyard wines and his culinary creations complement each perfectly. Wine pairing options include perfectly paired bites, a cheese pairing tasting, and for the sweet-toothed crowd, a decadent wine and chocolate pairing satiates with artisan truffles handcrafted by Hess chocolatier Linda Rodriguez. For those seeking a bit of culture  as  they  sip, there is no better place within Napa to indulge.  With The Hess Collection’s ‘Estate Experiences,’ the on-site contemporary art museum takes center stage during the Museum Walk Guided Art Tour, featuring works from Donald Hess’ private collection, followed by a tasting of current release wines. A blending experience, and tastings of special wines not found on the public tasting menu round-out these unique adventures.
