Elevating the Napa Experience
The much anticipated opening of Vista Collina Resort has been the talk of Napa, and thus far, those lucky enough to sneak a peek have been wowed. Perhaps it’s the Tuscan-style architecture. Or maybe it’s the luxurious pool flanked by 10 cabanas. The nine tasting rooms that surround the spacious community lawn might have a little something to do with the wow-factor.
It’s all these things and more that come together to create Napa’s newest luxury destination. More than a hotel, Vista Collina Resort, located in South Napa across from sister hotel The Meritage Resort & Spa, presents a new format for discovering the bounty of wine country. With a focus on culinary and tasting experiences, Vista Collina Resort curates the best of Napa at its centerpiece “Village.” Nine tasting rooms encircle the large community lawn and feature some of the finest boutique wineries and microbrews in Napa Valley including Trinitas Cellars, Foley Food & Wine Society, Jayson by Pahlmeyer, Napa Smith Brewery, Luna Vineyards, GEN 7 Wines, The Wine Foundry, Cornerstone Cellars, and Mi Sueno. For those interested in further viticultural exploration, the resort’s shuttle service drops off and picks up in Downtown Napa.
The onsite Fivetown Grocery offers a delectable assortment of gourmet nibbles, tastes, and gift items from the five distinct towns that make up Napa Valley, with selections ranging from house made pasta and sauces to smoked barbeque and freshly baked bread, all made from scratch in small batches by celebrated Executive Chef Vincent Lesage. A Food & Wine Center features an exhibition kitchen where a cast of rotating chefs and bakers offer onsite cooking classes.
And though it’s not necessary to be an overnight guest to enjoy many of these amenities, it would be a shame to miss the full scope of Vista Collina Resort’s hospitality. An intimate reception lounge resembling an elegant residential living room serves as the unassuming yet refined check-in area. Guestrooms and suites in hues of merlot, gold, and green feature modern draped and upholstered beds in sumptuous Frette linens, cozy blankets and robes, and comfortable upholstered lounge chairs. Suites offer their own living and kitchen areas, and feature luxurious bathrooms with a barn door entry, free-standing soaking tubs, and separate showers. The resort’s partnership with Heston Cue allows for a particular suite highlight: guests can select a seasonal, farm-fresh recipe they’d like to make. The resort’s culinary team delivers the ingredients and video instruction is provided by Chef Lesage.
“There’s a casual sophistication to the property that’s reflective of Napa, with truly one-of-a-kind experiences – from our incredible culinary offerings to custom design,” said Vista Collina Resort General Manager Dave Elcon. “We wanted to capture Napa’s style and charm in an understated way.”
They appear to have succeeded.
