Le Jazz Hot
The White Barn begins 27th year The White Barn, Saint Helena’s intimate music theater, opens its 27th year February 10 with a jazz performance by San Francisco’s Le Jazz Hot. Their music, often called gypsy jazz, begins at 8 p.m. in the White Barn 2727 Sulphur Springs Road. The music of Le Jazz Hot carries the listener back to the 1930s and the small, smoky jazz clubs of Paris or the refined lounges of the Hotel Ritz. As with all White Barn performances, ticket proceeds benefit local non-profits. This show, plus the March 24 Euphonia concert, benefit The Rianda House, Saint Helena’s senior center. Tickets are $30 and may be obtained by calling 251-8715 for reservations. All told The White Barn will be the site of at least 10 different shows this year. The second show, Euphonia, features a café-style acoustic combo. 707-251-8715rmation707-963-34 Known as one of the most unique gems of St. Helena, the White Barn is an 1872 Carriage House that was once part of U.S. Civil War General Erasmus Keyes’ home and winery estate. Concerts feature local, San Francisco Bay area, West Coast, and international talent under the guidance of Artistic Director Nancy Garden. She is assisted by a volunteer board of directors. Complimentary Napa Valley wines, coffee and tea are served during intermissions. Other dates and charitable organizations which will benefit from 2012 spring concerts include the following: April 15. Live at Silo’s: Lydia Pense & Cold Blood

Lydia Pense & Cold Blood debuted when the Fillmore was at its peak as one of the nation's musical Meccas. Owner Bill Graham was so impressed with Lydia's voice and the sound of the band that he immediately signed Cold Blood to his new record label. During the span of six original late-60's, early-70's albums, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood helped, along with Tower Of Power, forge their own specific brand of funk/soul and R&B which came to be known as East Bay Grease. That music still holds up today, proving that great music is timeless and will continue to inspire generations to come. Cold Blood is one of the original R&B horn bands from the late 60's/ early 70's that exemplified the "East Bay Grease" melding of funk & rock with blues and jazz elements. Lydia Pense has been compared to Janis Joplin, but is a true original and a pioneer in the women's rock movement. Lydia and the band debuted when the Fillmore was at its peak as one of the nation's musical Meccas. Owner Bill Graham was so impressed with Lydia's voice and the sound of the band that he immediately signed Cold Blood to his new record label. Lydia Pense and Cold Blood packed the San Francisco Ballrooms in their heyday, but that was then and this is now. In the now, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood still fill halls with cheering, dancing, foot-stomping fans. Far from fading over the years, Cold Blood has flourished. 8pm. Wine Train hosts Real “Ghost Whisperer” at two events
(NAPA, CA) Ever feel like someone is watching over you? If yes, perhaps Mary Ann Winkowski can help you get in touch with them. Winkowski is the well-known paranormal investigator who was the inspiration behind the TV series “Ghost Whisperer.” She will be making two West Coast appearances at the Napa Valley Wine Train on March 9 and 10, 2012. Guests will be able to hear her speak, participate in a Q&A, and dine with Mary Ann on the Wine Train. Mary Ann recently released her newest book: “Beyond Delicious: the Ghost Whisperer’s Cookbook.” Guests of the two Wine Train shows will be able to ask questions about the recipes, and her experiences with earthbound spirits -- those who have not yet “entered the light, and crossed over.” She will even take questions from the crowd about ghosts or removing negative energy off a person. "I cannot wait to see the "unpaid guests" on the wine train. Could be dead train owners, conductors, engineers, past travelers, vineyard owners, workers, or how about a wine connoisseur. Maybe even someone attached to a guest on the train,” Mary Ann said. We can’t wait to see what Mary Ann will see, either. Tickets for the two events begin at $150 per person for the Gourmet lunch or dinner on the Napa Valley Wine Train and in station presentation by Mary Ann. Friday Lunch: 10:30am to 4:30am In station wine tasting and Wine Train speech Lunch and casual visiting with guests on Train: 11:30 to 2:30 One hour presentation and questions from guest 2:45 to 3:45 Book signing: 3:45 to 4:15 Saturday Dinner: 4:30pm to 9:30pm One hour presentation and questions from guest 4:30pm to 5:30pm Book signing: 5:30 to 6:00 Dinner and casual visiting with guests on Train: 6:30 to 9:30 For more information, call (800) 427-4124 or go online to: http://winetrain.com/ghost- whisperer (not yet built) ### Press Contact: Melodie Hilton, Napa Valley Wine Train (707) 251-5210 Images available upon request winetrain.com The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of the most unique and best Napa restaurants. Mozart's Muses in Arias and Duets
Join us for Mozart's Muses in Arias and Duets on March 10 at 7:30 pm in the main gallery of Napa Valley Museum. An evening of Mozart's most heavenly arias and romantic duets performed by two dynamic young singers, Carrie Hennessey and baritone Zachary Gordin, whose beauty of voice and technical accomplishment make them ideal Mozart singers. This performance complements Napa Valley Museum's costume exhibition MozART's Muses on loan from San Francisco. The exhibition celebrates the glamour, luxury and artistry of costume design. On display will be the sumptuous fabrics, lavish lace and delicate embroidery used in costumes onstage in SFO productions of Mozart's operas. The performance begins at 7:30 on March 10 in the main gallery of Napa Valley Museum, followed by a meet-the-artists reception with refreshments. Movie Screening Mozart's Sister
Mozart’s Sister: Film Screening Thursday, March 22 7-9pm $10 per person; includes admission Written, directed and produced by French director, René Féret, Mozart’s Sister is a re-imagined account of the early life of the talented Maria Anna “Nannerl” Mozart. An accomplished composer and performer, Nannerl is soon overshadowed by her prodigious little brother and is discouraged from playing. Approaching marriageable age and forbidden to play the violin or compose, Nannerl chafes at the limitations imposed on her gender, yet finds ways to challenge the established sexual and social order. Set in the royal courts of pre-French revolution Europe, Mozart’s Sister, is a delightful film featuring the Baroque music of composer Marie-Jeanne Séréro.
