Don’t Miss Your Chance to Catch Film Star and King of California Country-Rock Dwight Yoakam at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center in Yountville

Cutting-edge country-rock GRAMMY Award winner Dwight Yoakam will be performing in Yountville at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center on Sunday, November 24, at 8 p.m. Catch this music icon, newly inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, before he heads out to Vegas for his debut at the Wynn in December.

Known for reviving the classic Bakersfield country sound, Yoakam’s 1984 debut album “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.” was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Since then, he has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide and is a 21-time nominated, GRAMMY Award winner. He has collaborated with everyone from Beck to Kid Rock, ZZ Top, Hunter S. Thompson and Jack White, and has toured with the likes of Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and Hüsker Dü. In 2016, Yoakam released his bluegrass album “Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars …” on Sugar Hill Records. Featuring a band of bluegrass luminaries, this album boasts a collection of reinterpreted favorites from his catalog, as well as a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain.”

In 1977, Yoakam left Kentucky for Nashville to embark on a music career but found that the Music City was moving away from traditional country roots to more pop-country. He found himself better suited to the post-Bakersfield movement and became one of the founding fathers of the “L.A. Cowpunk Scene” influenced by second-wave rockabilly and punk alongside X, Los Lobos, The Knitters, Rank & File and The Blasters.

In addition to his musical career, Yoakam is a formidable film and television actor who has appeared in over 40 feature films including a memorable performance in “Sling Blade.” In 2016, he recurred in David E. Kelley’s Amazon series “Goliath.” Recently, he appeared in director Steven Soderbergh’s film “Logan Lucky” with Channing Tatum and Daniel Craig. Yoakam is capable of seamlessly melting into his roles and impressively standing toe-to-toe with some of the world’s top thespians over the course of his storied and successful acting career, including Jodie Foster, Tommy Lee Jones, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Matthew McConaughey.

Yoakam’s self-curated SiriusXM channel, titled “Dwight Yoakam and The Bakersfield Beat’s ‘Where Country Went Mod’” launched in April of 2018. The channel celebrates the Bakersfield sound and those it has inspired. Yoakam has 12 gold albums and nine platinum or multi-platinum albums, with five of those albums topping Billboard’s Country Albums chart and another 14 landing in the Top 10. Nearly 40 of Yoakam’s singles have charted on Billboard, with 14 peaking in the Top 10.

Dwight Yoakam will perform at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at 8 p.m. Click here for tickets or visit www.lincolntheater.com.
